Tuning & repair details...
Below are some example details of my tuning and repair service. If you're not sure what sort of piano you have, give me a ring (0777 367 0711) and I can talk you through the differences.
...on tuning day...
In order to tune your piano the tuner needs to remove some of the external case parts, giving access to the tuning pins (wrest pins), so it helps if you can remove any ornaments from the top of the piano, but there's no need to start dismantling the piano's case-work. By gaining access to the inside of the piano your tuner is also able make a visual check of the piano action and make sure that nothing is broken or seriously out of adjustment. Occasionally there may even be broken strings that haven't been noticed, as most notes have more than one string (just like a 12-string guitar), so will still play, weakly.
Examples of charges (UK mainland):-
- Fine-tuning of upright or grand piano - £50
- Pitch raise and fine-tune (basically two consecutive tunings) additional £25
- More than one piano tuned at one location - reduction of £10 after 1st piano
- Instrument rental
- Other services (repairs etc.) are by separate agreement, based on hours worked
